I originally started this blog to let you all keep track of Margaret's and my adventures. I had the hopes to report the airports I visited that had recycle bins, how we toted recycleables from the KC area up to Chicago (not a special trip :) ) because they don't recycle all types of plastics and styrofoam in KS, and how we stayed in a 'green' hotel in KC as part of a mini-vacation.
While we have had quite a few exciting adventures the past few months (several green in nature), I have had little time to keep up with daily life, let alone a blog. Busy work schedule is the biggest culprit.
It would be easy to revert to disposable items, pitching things in the garbage because it is convenient. Despite our hectic lives, we have not relaxed out commitment to recycling and protecting our environment for 'generations to come'. Those words take on new meaning these days now that we are days away for the arrival of our first child. We so want the world to be one that they can enjoy and not have to struggle to clean up the mess of those that have come before. The burden should not be upon them. We can do so much to preserve and safeguard their future.
Staying true to our 'green' theme, we do not know if our child will be a boy or a girl, so we have green outfits galore...even some very green articles that are organic. We are going to use a mixture of diapers that are less impactful on our environment (combination of cloth and biodegradable). Stay tuned for testimony on green diapers.
Although one may never truly feel ready for parenthood, we are ready to embark on that exciting journey. We are are eager to pass on our knowledge and values. We are ready to grow stronger together--as a family.
